Position Overview: Reporting to the Chief Risk Officer (CRO), the Risk Associate is an important position. The Risk Associate will focus initially on validation of models built largely in the Prophet software, whilst also supporting a broad range of tasks including preparation of ALM reports, stress test reports, liquidity coverage reports, as well as monitoring of other markets, underwriting and operational risks. The role intersects extensively with the Actuarial team, who perform the stress test runs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Validation of valuation and investor models, whether directly or through interaction with an outsourced provider.
- Identification, measurement, monitoring and reporting of risks, spanning underwriting, market, credit, operational, liquidity and strategic risks.
- Development and maintenance of effective risk models, tools and analytics to support risk assessment and decision making
- Supporting the development and maintenance of regular stress tests and other risk metrics to support timely and accurate capital planning in alignment with strategic and financial objectives
- Working with functional partners, especially Actuarial, to:
- Develop capital plans
- Conduct risk reviews of annual business plans
- Assess the impact of new reinsurance transactions
- Supporting risk governance and oversight activities, including in relation to the Risk Committee and any risk-related management committees such as for ALM and the SBA.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in quantitative discipline such as mathematics, statistics, actuarial science, physics, etc.
- Fellowship of Society of Actuaries or Institute of Actuaries or equivalent, or progress towards this.
- 5-10 years of experience in life insurance risk or actuarial functions.
- Strong Prophet background (Prophet ALS knowledge a must)
- Knowledge of Bermuda financial reporting and solvency regimes, and/or of US GAAP, is an advantage.
- Knowledge of the reinsurance market, products, regulations and best practices.
- Strong analytical, communication and interpersonal skills.
